Kenyan Soapstone Carving.
For hundreds of years the Kisii people have carved the soapstone found in the rolling hills near Lake Victoria. Carvings ranged from such mundane items as pots for carrying fat to massage as skin protection from the sun and wind to figurines revered as holding the spirit of their ancestors.
